Mr. Bell died at Pleasant Valley Manor on June 10 at the age of 91. Born at Gateshead, England on June 13, 1907, he grew up in Hexham. He apprenticed as a baker and immigrated to Canada in 1927. Mr. Bell received warm hospitality from relatives at Enderby and on the Bell Ranch near Falkland upon arrival. He found work on farms and ranches in the area, among those were the Hopkins and McCallum farms near Armstrong. Later he worked as a baker at Princeton and Qualicum Beach. Mr. Bell often worked off the farm, baking at Kamloops and being in charge of camp kitchens at Lanark when the Rogers Pass tunnels were being built, and at Mt. Copeland above Riverstoke. Mr. Bell has a great love for animals. He always had a dog and until later years, a horse on the farm. His community interests included the Board of Trade and the Kinsmen Club at Campbell River.
