PARKER

Sidney Parker service held.

A memorial service for the late Sidney Parker was held June 22 at Armstrong following his death at Kelowna General Hospital on June 18 at the age of 79.

Born in England, Mr. Parker served in the Merchant Marines, a special ranch of the Royal Navy, during wartime and remained in the Merchant Marines afterwards. He came to Victoria where he worked in the shipyards converting ships from English wiring to American wiring. In 1950 he came to Armstrong. An electrician by trade, he was a partner in Haida Electric for 30 years.

Mr. Parker enjoyed traveling and was a member of the Masonic Lodge A.F.& A.M., United Service, Victoria #24 and the Shrine. He also was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 98, Enderby.

He is missed by long time friend and business partner Steve Tattrie at Armstrong. He was predeceased by brother Alf and sister Irene, both in 1996.

The memorial service was conducted at Mountain View Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ken Jones officiating. Cremation.

PARKER

Parker, Jean went to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer on Tues., Feb 13, 2001 at the age of 69 years. Survived by her loving family: one daughter, Vicki (Colin) McKay of Calgary; one son, Bill (Janet) Parker of Cold Lake, AB; foster-son, Gary (Judy) Simpson of Salmon Arm BC; four grandchildren – Lindsay, Kevin, Jennifer and CJ; her mother Muriel Metcalfe of Winfield; one sister, Marion Hawthorne of Winfield; two brothers, John Metcalfe of Winfield, Cecil (Dolly) Metcalfe of Kelowna; and numerous nieces and nephews. Sadly predeceased by her husband Murray, father Eldon, brother, Dick, and foster-son Larry Simpson. Jean was born in Kelowna on March 2, 1931 and received her schooling in the Okanagan. She married Murray Parker on Dec. 2, 1950 in Winfield, BC. They lived in Deep Creek, BC and moved to Salmon Arm in 1954 and then moved to Kelowna in 1974. The family wish to express their sincere thanks to the staff at the Southern Interior Cnacer Centre, members of the Palliative Response Team, the Hospice Program, Dr. Eliason, and the Kelowna Homemakers Foundation for their care and support. Funeral service was held on Fri., Feb. 16, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel of Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Rd., with Rev. Sue MacGregor officiating. Interment to follow in Armstrong Cemetery, Armstrong, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Centre for the Southern Interior, 399 Royal Ave., Kelowna, BC V1Y 5L3. PAUL

Betty Paul service Jan. 30

A memorial service will be held Jan. 30 at the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home for Pauline Elizabeth (Betty) Paul, nee Thomas who died peacefully at Hospice House at Vernon on Jan. 27.

Born at Armstrong on Feb. 22, 1924, Betty married Donald Cameron Paul in 1944. The couple lived at Vernon for 25 years, Kimberly, Cranbrook and returned to Armstrong in 1994.

Mrs. Paul enjoyed her family, gardening and doing crafts.

She is survived by her husband Donald at Vernon, daughters and sons, Dianne Savage (Bill) at Quesnel, Edward at Kamloops, Patty Prosser (Dennis) at Falkland, Bud Paul at Winnipeg. Also surviving are six grandchildren, five great grandchildren; three sisters Mabel Postill at Vernon, Elsie Needoba and Marjorie Prior, both at Armstrong, nieces and nephews.

The service will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Cremation. Friends wishing to remember Betty Paul may make memorial contributions to the Hospice House at Vernon.

Dr. Bob Patten Dies Suddenly At Chilliwack

Passed away November 16, 1961, Dr. Robert William Patten of 104 Nowell St., South, Chilliwack. Predeceased by his father, Dr. L. A. Patten, 1956. Survived by his wife, Marion; 2 sons, Robert, McGill University, Montreal, Donald, U.B.C., Vancouver; his mother, Mrs. L.A. Patten, Chilliwack; 1 sister, Mrs. Lloyd McIntyre, Chilliwack; 1 brother, Dr. Charles Patten, Manila. Funeral service was held Monday, Nov. 20 at 1 p.m. from Henderson's Funeral Home, Chilliwack, Rev. J.W. Way officiating. Cremation followed.

Mrs. C.J. Patten of this city is an aunt, and Mrs. Jas. E. Jamieson, a cousin of the deceased.

PEET

Peet service held May 18

Funeral for the late James Edward Peet, was held on May 18 following his death at Shuswap Lake General Hospital on May 14. he was 92.

Born in Alberta, Mr. Peet served in the Air Force during the Second World War, then settled at the Coast. He lived at Prince George for many years before moving to Armstrong 24 years ago. Mr. Peet enjoyed raising horses, the outdoors, flying, being with his family and friends.

He is survived by sisters Frances (William) Starchuk at Vernon, Alice (Ove) Petersen at Nelson, brothers David at Langley and Robert at Surrey as well as many nieces and nephews.

The 2 p.m. service, held at Mountain View Chapel, was conducted by Rev. Lorraine Powell, interment followed at Armstrong Spallumcheen Cemetery.

PEHOTA

Martha Pehota service held

A walking, talking weather forecaster, Martha Pehota, died at Armstrong on June 17 at the age of 91.

Miss Pehota was well known for her ability to predict local weather conditions by analyzing the shape and color of a pig's spleen. She was a regular contributor to The Armstrong Advertiser, offering insights into local weather conditions and forecasts of weather for upcoming events.

Born at Bankhead, Alta., she came to the Armstrong area when she was only a year old and remained in this community throughout her life.

For the last several years, she had moved into a single unit at Willowdale Guest Home, then into the main building.

Miss Pehota loved the outdoors, reading tea leaves and predicting the weather.

She is survived by nieces Mable Hale at Abbotsford, Audry (Sonny) Benner at Sechelt and nephew Clarence (Pat) Speck at Halfmoon Bay, as well as several other great, great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews.

A visitation was held on Sunday evening at Mountain View Chapel for those wishing to say their final goodbyes. The funeral service was conducted on Monday at 11 a.m. at Zion United Church with Rev. Jim Lochhead officiating. Interment followed in the family plot of Armstrong-Spallumcheen Cemetery.

Following the service, a tea was held at the church hall. Mountain View Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.

Those wishing to remember Miss Pehota may make donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.

PEPPER

Len Pepper death reported

A long-time area farmer, Len Pepper died May 6 after a lengthy illness.

Born at Banff, Alta. in 1920, Mr. Pepper was third eldest son of 12 children.

He is survived by his wife Emma (Peggy) and children Gail (Bill), Bill (Lois), Jim (Debbie), Doug (Kathy), Margo and Barb; grandchildren Michelle (Thad), Kim (Ryan), Dean, Krista, Kyle, Curtis and Dallas and great grandchildren Cody, Carter and Nicholas. He is also survived by four brothers and two sisters, many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Pepper served his country six years less eight days in the 8th Field Ambulance R.C.A.M.C. and 10th Battalion Calgary Highlanders in the Second World War. He married his wife, Peggy, in 1946 and worked at Eckshaw, Alta. until 1959. The family moved to the Armstrong area and operated a dairy farm for almost 20 years.

Mr. Pepper also served his community for years as a school trustee for School District No. 21 and as an alderman in Spallumcheen Council.

After retiring to Vernon, the Peppers traveled widely until his health failed.

At Mr. Pepper's request, no formal service will be held after cremation.

Peggy and the family will welcome friends and relatives at her home on May 15 from 1 to 5 p.m.

John Petancic service Thurs.

Funeral service for the late John Petancic will be held this Thursday at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home at Armstrong. Mr. Petancic died at Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Sept. 21 at the age of 72 years.

Born on Aug. 11, 1929 in Germany, he had moved to Armstrong in 1980.Four years ago, he and Jeanne moved to Vernon. Mr. Petancic was a baker by trade and operated his own bakery in Armstrong for 10 years.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne, at Vernon, two daughters Katherine (Kris) Lintan at Armstrong, Mildred (Bill) Runnals at Vancouver, three grandchildren Vanessa, Kathlynne and Christian and one brother, Adolf, at Vancouver.

The service will be held at 2 p.m. with Pastor Dennis Nickel officiating. Interment is to follow at Armstrong Spallumcheen Cemetery.

PETCH

Petch dies at Enderby

Armstrong resident Eugene Thomas John (Gene) Petch died at age 78 at Enderby Hospital July 10.

Gene will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by wife Doreen of Armstrong, daughter Pamela-May Haak (Kerry) of Enderby; two grandchildren, Andrew and Angela, sister Vera Mazur (Nick) of Enderby, and brother Emmeth (Ruth) Petch of Kelowna.

Gene lived at Enderby for 41 years before moving to Armstrong seven years ago. Family came first with Gene and his love for music. He was active in St. George's Anglican Church and served as past master of Enderby Lodge #40 AF & AM.

A private family cremation was held. Arrangements in the care of Mountain View Funeral Home. Donations in Gene's memory may be made to the Bairg-McMurty Fund VJH Foundation, 2101-32nd St., Vernon V1T 5L2.

PETERSEN

Elmer Petersen service held.

A former resident of the Armstrong area for 23 years, Elmer A. Petersen, died peacefully at Enderby on July 19 at the age of 81 years.

Born at Molde, Norway on Aug. 27, 1919, he was raised at New Westminster and married Irene Martha Nickerson at Kelowna on Dec. 2, 1944.

The family lived at Terrace for 20 years, Vernon, Williams Lake, Armstrong for 23 years and lately of Enderby for the past four years.

Mr. Petersen enjoyed music, singing and golf.

The last of his family, Mr. Petersen is survived by his wife, Irene ay Enderby, two sons Richard (Cheryl) at Enderby, John at Armstrong, two daughters Beverley (Laurie) Mosher at Pugwash, N.S., Melody (Don) Belke at Peachland, three grandchildren Karen, Jamie and Joey and great granddaughter Lisa.

The funeral service was conducted July 22 at 1 p.m. from Armstrong Seventh-Day Adventist Church with Pastor Dennis Nickel officiating. Interment was in Armstrong Spallumcheen Cemetery.

Mountain View Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.

PETERSEN

Rene Petersen service Sept. 6

Funeral service for the late Irene Martha Petersen will be held this Thursday at 1 p.m. from the Seventh-Day Adventist Church at Armstrong.

Mrs. Petersen died at Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Sept. 1 at the age of 78 years.

Born at Camrose, Alta., on Jan. 27, 1923, Irene Nickerson lived and worked at New Westminster when she met Elmer and they were married at Kelowna on Dec. 2, 1944. The couple lived at Terrace for 20 years, then on to Vernon and Williams Lake before settling at Armstrong where they resided for 23 years. Recently they had moved to Enderby.

Her husband, Elmer Petersen, died on July 19, 2001. Mrs. Petersen also was predeceased by brother Leo and sister Ivy. She is survived by two sons, Richard (Cheryl) at Enderby and John at Armstrong; two daughters, Beverly (Laurie) Mosher at Pugwash, N.S. and Melodie (Don) Belke at Peachland; three grandchildren Karen, Jamie and Joey and one great granddaughter, Lisa; three brothers, George at Westlock, Alta., Alden at Victoria and Stewart at Manville, Alta.

Mrs. Petersen was active with the Seventh-Day Adventist Church family, enjoyed sewing, children, her family, gardening, scrabble and crossword puzzles.

Pastor Dennis Nickel will officiate at the Thursday service. Interment is to follow in the family plot of Armstrong/Spallumcheen Cemetery.

Following the service, a reception will be held at the Church Hall.

PETRIE

Lois Petrie dies at Calgary

A resident of Armstrong for more than 22 years, Lois Petrie, died Dec. 20 at Calgary at the age of 72. Born in Alberta, where she lived until the mid-seventies, Mrs. Petrie relocated to the Okanagan. Last fall, she moved to Calgary and was excited about setting up her new home there. Everyone who knew Lois was touched by her compassion, thoughtfulness, insight, humor and generous spirit. Our hope is that those who knew Lois will take a moment to remember her in their own special way, and that you will carry with you always the love she so freely gave, said her daughter, Ardis.

Mrs. Petrie is survived by her children Walker 9Donna) at Hinton, Alta., Artis at Calgary, Beth (Gary Price) at Calgary, Al (Peggy) at Victoria, Glenda at Calgary. As well as her children , she is survived by grandchildren Corrine Schubert, Clayton and Aften Petrie, Curtis Petrie, Teree and Calder Weber, Devan and Teela Petrie as well as one great granddaughter, Brianne Schubert. Others survived* her her* sisters Sylvia Torrey at Victoria, Sandra (Joe) Keller at Smithers, Phyllis (Maurice) Munro at Edmonton, brothers Dan Torrey at Sedelia, Alta., Elliot Torrey at Calgary and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Jan. 27 at 3 p.m. at Jacques Funeral Home, 12700 MacLeod Trail S., Calgary, Alta. Memorial tributes in Lois’ name can be made to the Legion Foundation at Pacific Command, Royal Canadian Legion, 3026 Arbutus St., Vancouver, B.C. V6T 4P7

PIDDINGTON

Anna Piddington service held

Anna Marie Piddington was born at Klagenfurt, southern Austria on Dec. 24, 1922. She died peacefully at the Vernon Hospice House on April 9, 2002.

Anna is fondly remembered and will be very much missed by husband, John, daughter Dagmar (Watkins), grandson Brendan, son-in-law Nick, and brother, Emil in Salzburg, Austria.

Anna grew up during a very difficult time with the Depression and Second World War. After working as a nurse in Vienna and Prague, she married John Piddington and moved to England.

Perhaps her most fulfilling time was working many years in a cancer research laboratory in Southampton, England. Her work there certainly persuaded daughter Dagmar, not to smoke.

Four years ago she and husband John, emigrated to Canada and bought a house in Heritage Court, Armstrong. She loved gardening, politics, music and her family. Anna always shopped locally because she believed "use it or lose it".

The family would like to thank Dr. Rutherford and Dr. Hwang for their professional and sympathetic care during Anna’s illness, and the friends and neighbors for their support during her illness and at the remembrance service.

PIEPER

Bud Pieper service held

A private family service will be held this Wednesday for the late Albert Wilson "Bud" Pieper who died Oct. 27 at the age of 82.

The service will be followed by an open house tea for family and friends at the family home, 2555 Dunn St., Armstrong between 2 and 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the B.C. Lung Association. Mr. Pieper had suffered with emphysema for many years.

Born at Winnipeg, Man., on Jan. 28, 1920, Mr. Pieper had lived in the Armstrong-Spallumcheen Valley since 1949. He was a life member of the Armstrong Curling Club, joining the club in the 1950’s. He was involved in coaching high school curling and served on the executive for many years. He also enjoyed his garden and always had extra to give away to family and friends. Mr. Pieper is survived by his wife of 57 years, Arlie at Armstrong, sons Chris (Anita), Greg (Cammy) and daughter Sheila, all at Armstrong, daughter Jaqui (Keith) Humphrey at Victoria, son Steve (Joan) at Fort St. John and step-son Archie (Lea) McKinnon at Kelowna. Also surviving him are sisters Irene West and Jocelyn (Phillip) McGregor at Kelowna, 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

PILUSO

Private service for C.M. Piluso

A private family cremation by request was held last week for the late Carmen Michael Piluso who died peacefully at his residence near Armstrong on June 7.

Born at Cozenza, Italy on Aug. 12. 1931, Mr. Piluso came to Vancouver in 1948, then on to Victoria. Later moving to Campbell River, he met and married Joyce Elizabeth Jacobsen in 1955. The couple moved to Oliver where they operated their own orchard for 10 years.

Mrs. Piluso predeceased her husband in 1990.

During his life, Mr. Piluso worked in the hospitality industry. He enjoyed his family and friends, fishing, gardening and was a member of the Eagles Lodge while at Campbell River.

He is survived by his companion of nine years, Ellie Stobbe, Louisa Piluso, Armstrong, son Tony and daughter-in-law Paula at McLure, B.C., five grandchildren, Nicole Cormier, Carmen Piluso, Quin Cormier, Lewis Piluso and Jacob Piluso as well as sisters and extended family.

Mountain View Funeral Home and Crematorium was entrusted with arrangements.

PITT (PETIT)

Maurice Pitt service held.

Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Monday for the late Maurice Petit who died at Enderby Extended Care on May 8 at the age of 87 years.

Born in the U.S., Mr. Petit moved to Saskatchewan with his family at an early age. He lived in New Westminster, then Kamloops for 20 years until residing at Warner House at Armstrong for the past 18 years. He enjoyed people and his family.

Rev. Ken Jones officiated at the service, held at Mountain View Funeral Chapel. Cremation with interment was in the family plot of Armstrong Spallumcheen Cemetery.

Family service for Larry Plante

A private family service was held for a well-known former Armstrong man, Lawrence (Larry) Thomas Plante, who died peacefully in his sleep Oct. 11 at Sangudo, Alta. He was 75. Born April 1, 1926 near Niacam, Sask., Mr. Plante joined the army in 1943 to help support his mother and younger siblings after his father’s sudden death in 1942. He married Ila in 1958 and the couple moved several times between Saskatchewan and British Columbia, raising the four boys. Mr. Plant was in the construction business for many years and still enjoyed going to the job sites and sharing his expertise. He also enjoyed baseball, hockey and getting together for coffee.

Mr. Plant is survived by his mother, Albina at Saskatoon, sons Wayne (Tracy) at Armstrong, Marty

(Laurie) at Calgary, Trent at Vernon and Larry Jr. at Vancouver; three grandchildren Joel, Lindi and Kayla; brothers and sisters Helen, Murray, Patricia, Dennis and Annette.

Cremation and arrangements were in the care of Mountain View Funeral Home.

PODVIN

Joe Podvin service held.

Mass of the Christian burial was celebrated at 1 p.m. Tuesday for the late Joseph "Joe" William Podvin who died at his home on June 15 at the age of 79 years.

Prayers were held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Monday at 7 p.m. with the Mass being held Tuesday with Father Leo Boyd, O.M.I. celebrant. Interment followed at Armstrong/Spallumcheen Cemetery.

Mr. Podvin lived at the Coast for many years, moving to Vernon for a few years before moving to Armstrong 15 years ago.

He was a member of the Enderby Square Dancing Club, enjoyed his family, camping, fishing and woodworking.

Mr. Podvin is survived by his wife, Paulette, at Armstrong, one daughter, two step-daughters, three step-sons, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by son Robert, parents, a sister and a brother.

POIRIER

Richard Poirier funeral Friday

Funeral service for the late Dr. Richard Wayne Poirier will be held this Friday at 11 a.m. at Grandview Flats Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Dr. Poirier died peacefully at his residence on Grandview Flats on Aug. 8 at the age of 57 years.

Born at Armstrong on 1943, Richard attended Grandview Academy, studied at Canadian University College at Lacombe, Alta., as well as Walla Walla College in Washington station before proceeding to the Faculty of Dentistry at Loma Linda University where he completed graduate and doctoral degrees in dentistry.

Dr. Poirier enjoyed skiing, hockey, barefoot water skiing and golfing. He also enjoyed collecting antiques and admired old trucks and tractors.

Due to ill health, he returned to Grandview Flats area in 1998.

Dr. Poirier is survived by his mother, Eleanor Poirier, at Armstrong, brother Frank (Cyndi) Poirier at Enderby, stepdaughter Michelle at Visalia, Calif.; three grandchildren, Ryan, Ashley and Chelsey; three nephews, Frank Jr., Barton Wayne and Jacques.

The funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Burke Heimann with interment in the Grandview Flats Cemetery to follow.

POLICHEK

Nick Polichek dies at Coast

A memorial service was held for a former Armstrong resident, Nick Polichek on Aug. 21.

Capt. Polichek of Courtenay, died Aug. 14 at St. Joseph’s Hospital at Comox.

Capt. Polichek was born at Armstrong on Sept. 7, 1920 and received his early education here. During the Second World War, he was a pilot with the RCAF and served as flying instructor, Flight Commander, C Flight at Portage La Prairie during the Korean War.

His career with the RCAF continued until retirement in 1964.

A good family man, sportsman, musician, and gentleman, Mr. Polichek enriched the lives of all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gwendolyn, sons Gordon and Barry, grandchildren Clayton, Nicole and Jennifer and brothers Victor, Elmer and John.

The memorial service was held at the Upper Hall, Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 17 at Courtenay. Arrangements were entrusted to Piercy’s Funeral Home at Courtenay.

POPOVIC

Maggie Popovic service held

Funeral service for the late Magadelene Margaret "Maggie" Popovic, nee Hawryluk, was held April 10 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home.

Mrs. Popovic died at Willowdale Guest Home at Armstrong on April 4 just days before her 102nd birthday.

Born in the Ukraine on April 23, 1899, Maggie came to Canada with her family when she was only three years old. She was predeceased by her parents and brothers Hnat, Andrew and Gordon.

Mrs. Popovic is survived by her nieces and nephews, Jean Lambertus, Ann Clark, Marie Janz, Lillian Serefin, Pearl, Ann, Walter, Steve and Peter.

Mrs. Popovic lived on Colony St. for many years and moved to Willowdale two years ago.

She was a superb cook and enjoyed growing flowers. She loved to gamble and went to Reno several times as well as playing bingo on Monday nights at the Centennial Hall. She loved children and will be missed by many who called her Aunt Maggie.

The service, conducted by Rev. Ken Jones, was held at the chapel. Interment followed in Armstrong-Spallumcheen Cemetery. Mountain View Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.

POOT

Service held for Dave Poot

Funeral service for the late David Arthur Poot, 41, was held March 23 at 11 a.m. from Armstrong Bible Chapel following his death March 18 at his home. He had been ill for the past year and a half. Born at Newmarket, Ont. On March 14, 1966, he attended Briercrest High School and Bible College at Caronport, Sask. here his mother was employed.

Dave and Fran were married at Armstrong in 1986 and later moved to Vanderhoof where Dave worked in the sawmill. They lived at Vanderhoof for 13 years, returning to Armstrong last September. Among his interests were his church family, his sons’ hockey, camping and fishing as a family.

Mr. Poot is survived by his wife Francene (nee Thiessen), children Nathan, 12, Cheriene, 10, Chantelle, 7, and Brenden, 5, all at Armstrong. He also is survived by mother Shirley (nee Langford) and Roelof Poot; brother Jerome (Laurena) at Calgary, sisters Joanne (Peter) Wheatley at Foxboro, Ont., Anne (Peter) Loewen at MacKenzie, Marie (Omer) Vautour at Kelowna, in-laws Joe and Martha Thiessen at Armstrong, brother-in-law Perry (Donna) Thiessen at Vanderhoof, sister-in-laws Shirley (Brian) Gerbrandt at Armstrong, Roxene (Byron) Harris at Victoria, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends paid their respects at Mountain View Funeral Home during the evening of March 22 with the service the following day. Pastor Greg Schmidt conducted the service. Interment was in Armstrong Spallumcheem Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to a fund being established for the children at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce.

PORTER, Barbara (nee Findley) (Kallweit) passed away on February 18th, 2002. Our mother, our wife and our friend. Your love for us and our love for you will stay in our hearts forever. Barb’s warm & caring spirit will be deeply missed by all of her family & friends. Remembering you now and always. Her loving husband Alvin Porter and his extended family, Teddy & Brandy, her daughter Linda (Larry), grandchildren Mitchell & Randy, her daughter Wendy, grandchild Zachary, her son Steven (Barbara) and her sister Beatice. Barb was a long time resident of the North Shore. She also resided in Grand Forks, Kelowna, and most recently Armstrong, B.C. Memorial Service was held at West Van United Church Monday, February 25th at 11 a.m., 2062 Esquimalt Avenue, West Vancouver. Interment to follow at Capilano View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.

Orthe Potts services set

Services will be held at Vernon and Vancouver this week for the late Orthe Emery Potts Jr. who died at Vernon on Jan. 23 at the age of 76.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. James Catholic Church at Vernon on Jan. 29 at 11 a.m. with rev. Fr. Augustine Obiwumma celebrant. Cremation. A memorial service will be held at the St. Patrick Catholic Church, 116 – East 12th Ave., Vancouver at 11 a.m. on Feb. 2.

Born at Athens, Ohio on March 31, 1925, Mr. Potts has lived in British Columbia since 1959 and in Armstrong for the past 20 years. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Mr. Potts enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

Mr. Potts is survived by his wife, Mary at Vernon, three sons Donald in Taiwan, Ronald in Texas and Kenneth in Florida; grandchildren Wade, Gordon (Sara), Clayton and Amanda; great grandson Ethan; sisters Nora in Florida, Wanda in Ohio, Doris in Nebraska and Patti in Ohio as well as nieces and nephews.

Friends wishing to may make memorial contributions to the B.C. Kidney Foundation.

PRICE

Ron Price service held

The service was held at the Salmon Arm Community Centre on Sept. 19 with Gordon Winkler officiating. Ron’s brother, Jack who now lives in Montana, assisted with the graveside service. Bowers Funeral Home at Salmon Arm entrusted with arrangements.

A former well-known resident of the Armstrong area, Ronald E. "Ron" Price died peacefully at Bastion Place at Salmon Arm on Sept. 16.

Born at Armstrong and receiving his schooling here, he worked in the building trade as a carpenter along with his father. One of the businesses that used Ron and his father’s expertise extensively was B.C. Pea Growers. Ron also worked on the construction of what old-timers know as Doc Haugen’s "new house" at the corner of Haugen Ave. and Jarvis St. Later Mr. Price was employed for a year at Bronson’s Hardware and later with Shepherd’s Hardware where he worked for many years. With his experience as a carpenter, he was a valuable member to a hardware and building materials business, retiring about 15 years ago.

Ron and Pearl were married on this 25th birthday, Nov. 8, 1945. They lived at Kelowna for about a year, where they both worked for the Eldorado Ranch. Moving to Armstrong, the couple continued to live here into retirement, later moving to the Salmon Arm area. Mr. Price has been a resident of Bastion Place for about nine years.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl, children Rim (Rose) at Cranbrook, Pete (Priscilla) at Vernon, Al (Velma) at Kamloops, grandchildren Ron (Susanne), Todd, Kathi (Bryon), Chad, Kyle and great-grandchildren Shelby, Morgan and Tristan as well as other relatives and close friends.

PRYSTUPA

Prystupa funeral held March 26

Funeral service for 21-year-old Sandy-Ann Lynn Prystupa was held Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at Armstrong Bible Chapel following her death on March 21 at Langley Memorial Hospital. Sandy-Ann was born at Edmonton on March 17, 1981 at Edmonton), the daughter of Russell and Dianne Prystupa. She graduated from Pleasant Valley Secondary School and had completed two years at Okanagan University College.

Sandy-Ann enjoyed music, camping, fishing, biking and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her parents, the Prystupas at Armstrong, sister Christine, at Armstrong, grandparents Wilma and Lester Odiorne at Armstrong, aunts, uncles and cousins.

The service was conducted by Rev. Bob Bashor with interment in Armstrong Spallumcheen Cemetery.

Mountain View Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
