The
town of Arrowhead was located at the northern end of the Upper Arrow Lake,
now part of the Arrow |
Reservoir.
The flooding of the reservoir in 1966 inundated all of the main sections
of the town. |
The
cemetery, which was located behind the town and further up the hillside,
was above the flooding |
level
and is still accessible today. To get to Arrowhead you take the old road
from Revelstoke which |
proceeds
along the north shore of the Columbia River. Arrowhead is about 30 miles
east on this road. |
The
road is quite rough in spots and washouts are possible. A four wheel drive
with good clearance is |
necessary. |
Less
than one quarter of the known gravesites at the Arrowhead cemetery have
readable markers. |
However
the plots were originally assigned numbers by the town and some records
were kept. |
In
addition we have had access to undertakers records and coroners records
both of which |
noted
the dates of death and the plot numbers. By combining these with the BC
Archives |
death
certificates it was possible to construct a reasonable catalog of the
persons interred there. |
In
the following listing the fourth column contains the monument inscription,
if there was one, and |
any
known facts if there was not. |
