Historical Background
The flooding of the Arrow Reservoir after the construction of the High Arrow dam at Castlegar inundated the town of Burton, including the cemetery.
A new town was developed above the high water mark and this cemetery was part of this development.
Layout
This cemetery is well kept and easily accessible.
A plaque lists the names of the persons who were buried in the flooded cemetery along with several headstones moved to this new location.
Driving Directions
If approaching from the south on Highway 6 turn right onto the service road and proceed northward to Main Road.
Turn right up Main Road to Burton Crossroads.
Turn right onto Burton Crossroads, proceed 0.3 km to Burton Cemetery Road and turn left on to it.The cemetery is on your right, a short distance down this road.
